Mary J. Blige -

Hello all my beautiful blog people! Happy Friday. Hope you all had a wonderful week. Today, I’ve been inspired to share my latest inspiration with you. Mary J. Blige has been in the game for years. I remember getting her first album as a Christmas gift from my classmate Raven. Yes, I said cassette (remember those?). Fastforward many years later…the first single from her upcoming album had me feeling high as I heard it for the 1st time on the way to class yesterday.

Basically, it’s a celebration of life. Right now. I’m in the celebration phase and I love the way it feels. Life gets hard for all of us every now and then but most of us subconsciously call heartache and keep it around for way too long. Well, right now, just like the song says…my life is just fine.

I feel incredible when I think about the changes I’ve made over the last 2 years. I was in a dramatic situation that I walked away from and have been rebuilding ever since. I left Atlanta and vowed to get back to a beautiful place. That beautiful place is inside of me. I’m getting my shit together and I love the way it feels. I’m on a mission and this song is my confirmation for the moment.

To all those out there who may be waist deep in drama and are afraid to cut your ties, leave, and not look back—wake it up. Life will only get better when you make it. No one will do it for you. Take the necessary steps to make your life “Just Fine”. Fuck the haters, naysayers, and the ones trying to hold you back. Go for it! Nobody is gonna do it like you.

I feel you!!! First, MJB is my girl. Second, I'm in a great place too. I definitely have the gift of goodbye, so I usually don't struggle with letting ppl go. I understanding anyone who leaves or was forced to leave wasn't connected to my destiny anyway, so no love lost. Okay, let me listen to the song...she's back!

Here, here pa! I agree completely! I too decided to up-and-roll from DC and lots of drama and demons. In the end, the move wasn't as cathartic as the realization that only I control my present and future. When I took back my control everything changed. I'm glad you're soaring pa...if look through those clouds, I'm up there with you! Have a great one!

Good for you for being able to find yourself again. Some people never do. Keep your head up and stay strong, my brother.

Of course I am all about keeping your joy inside of you. There are so many people out there willing to steal it, if you let them. I am so glad you are getting back to you. Stay strong and don't let anyone take you back to that place you were before. Trust me, I feel you.

I second that emotion. We hold the key to our own happiness. All we have to do is to use it.
